Repel The Bed Bugs Naturally With Essential Oils

Bed bugs (cimex lectularius) are insects that can be found in areas where humans reside.  They are nocturnal and survive by living on human blood and so are most commonly found in bedding and sleeping areas, including carpets and mattresses.  They are more prevalent in 3rd world countries but are not uncommon in western households, especially with the increase in world travel.

Common hygiene techniques enhanced with essential oils that are effective against parasites can readily rid an area of these pests.  Bites and their uncomfortable itching can also be treated effectively with essential oils.

Tim – My college age daughter found a bed bug in her bed, I had her spray the bed and pillows with a Bug Protective Blend (Cedar-wood, Orange, White Fir, Sandalwood) / water mix.

Lora-Jean – A friend suggested Clove and Peppermint in a spray bottle for bedding. Check the carpets, too.

Margaret – Mix 1/4 cup water to 15 drops Lemongrass.  Shake well and spray the mattress well.  You can also spray the bedding and pillows daily before bed time. When you wash bedding, put a few drops of Tea Tree and/or Lemongrass in your cycle then while drying, put a few drops of Lemon on a small hand towel and put in the dryer.
